Juicing 4 Kids!
Cheeky kids are sent here to test us and often they do, especially when it comes to eating healthily. Even when you are doing your utmost it seems that half of their peers are "allowed" to eat the Spongebob SuperMallow ChocPants bars (not sure that actually exists, but you know what I mean!) You can get them interested in juices and smoothies with a few simple steps.....
Use a whole fruit juicer such as the Philips Aluminium Professional so there is only a limited amount (if any) of chopping up required. The fewer knives on show the better. Less to clean and less to take to the hospital when your little gems recreate circus performances!
When you are making your juices and smoothies make sure you get the little ones to chuck the ingredients into the machine and press all the buttons. If using yoghurt let them slop it into the blender and have a blast!
Think about colors. We once had a traffic light day at home where we decided to make a red, yellow and green juice or smoothie. The kids helped to design each of the drinks and then we set about making them together. Once involved they can't wait to try their own creations.
Use sparkling water to re-create their love of all things fizzy with a gorgeous juice.
You might not get them to clean up afterwards but if they are off slurping down yummy, healthy drinks I'm sure you'll relish the cleaning yourself!
Make sure the equipment such as juicer and blender are out of natural reach. For one you want them to keep their fingers attached to their hands and secondly the Jackson Pollock look on your kitchen walls is best in a framed print rather than covering the entire wall, floor, ceiling, windows and doors!
It makes sense to get kids to brush their teeth soon after having juices or smoothies as even though they only contain natural rather than refined sugars, these can still attack their teeth and lead to cavities.
